Today we left Zadar and arrived 32km down the coast at the town of Biograd. Neda’s mum’s uncle Ivan and aunt Iva have a house there where all of their children and grandchildren come to stay in the summer for endless barbecues and sunbathing. After catching up for a while with family, we headed off for the beach with Kreso who came down for the afternoon. The beach area in Biograd is quite different to most places I have been. One section is sand beach, with Volleyball courts etc, while only 40 metres on either side the shore is rock and concrete, with pebble seabed. Ice-cream shops and cafes form a continuous boundary around the area and sunbathers cover most of everything in between. The water itself is full of people swimming, paddleboating, and there is even an aquatic fun park for the children. On that note, Kreso and I paid the required entry to the fun park to get a chance the climb a floating inflatable mountain / iceberg. Think wet indoor rock-climbing. After a couple of failed attempts, we were about to give up when the father of one the kids trying to do it came and showed us how crap we were. With that kind of humiliation we had the necessary motivation to finally reach the summit.
We had a beautiful dinner with relatives back at the house, before we went out for icecream in town with Neda’s mum’s cousin Nada.
