We drove the 600 odd kilometers from Barcelona to Nice and arrived there in the evening. The accommodation was not that great, so that was annoying but we soon forgot about that as we headed for an evening swim and then a walk around the old town. The town is small and pretty, a real holiday resort. I have never seen so many women tanned to extreme, dressed up in bright tiny clothes with major bling all over them and the rich husband next to them, often with a tiny dog. It’s quite funny. Seeing we only had one full day in Nice and we needed rest, we decided not to do the day trips to Cannes and Monte Carlo that we planned and instead rented sun lounges at a private beach and spent the whole day swimming in the Mediterranean, lounging and eating icecream. It was much needed rest for us both. The water of the Mediterranean was pure aqua, really beautiful. At night we had dinner and strolled through the old town. We found an ice cream shop that sold about a 100 different flavours and Philip was in an experimental mood and got Lychee, Cactus and Grapefruit. He didn’t think much of Cactus, I tried it too and it was not great. I stuck to chocolate flavours! A really fun thing we got to see both nights in Nice was a group of young breakdancers who get together on an old square and people watch them and then give them a few euro. It’s the best busking I’ve ever seen. They were extremely good and really got the crowd going, we filmed them a bit.
